The First Four Weeks

We have been a class now for four weeks. Our systems are up and running and we feel like a class. 

Here is a little video showcasing our first month together.  There are some photos of us doing maths activities, reading in the library, out on a class trip with The Pacific Mamas and looking at our art on show up the stairs to the staffroom.

This is a Story about Jet Skiing

I went on the jet ski at Waiheke and someone went on the back and I drove the jet ski and he held on very tight  and then he nearly fell off, but he stayed on. He was lucky. By Rhys

I have a lamb. She is called Lambie. I always take her when I go traveling. She is soft and cute. I snuggle with her every night. She is cute to me. She has black eyes and she has a short tail.By Jaya

Room 2 Certificate Winners

This week we had 3 people win certificates for their hard work in school.

Ruby won the school certificate for being resepectful and responsible in the classroom.

Tnias won the Kowhai Team certificate for being a responsible learner and member of Room 2. 

Dylan won the Kowhai Team certificate for his amazing effort in reading.

My Sparkly Shiny Amethyst

I have a sparkly shiny amethyst. I like polishing my amethyst with water and some soap. I have a little box to put it in to the box is soft. When the sun shines on it, it is shiny. I have to wrap it up in a tissue so it doesn't break. By Lily

Going to the Zoo

My   dog   is   cute.   Her   name   is   Lucy.     I   sleep     with   her   every   night.   When   I   go   to   school     my   dog   goes    on   the   side  of  my   bed.   When   I   come  back   from   school  I    play     with   Lucy  the   dog.  Ila

In Week 2 we were practising our mouse control. We made shapes on the computer using Kid Pix and got to choose whatever colours we liked.

My Trip to Goat Island

On the weekend I went to Goat Island marine reserve with my friend Jackson and Logie and their parents Yvette and Peter and we went snorkeling for six hours. We woke up at four am so that we could get there in time. by Jojo.

Our First Certificate Winners

Congratulations to Stella and Francis who won class certificates at our first Kowhai Team assembly.


Stella has been a focussed learner since returning to school from summer holidays.  Super focussed! 







Francis came up with a creative rule for our class treaty: We play fair and square.  We can all understand now!

Today we used our class computers for the first time. 
We used Kid Pix to draw our faces. Some of us found it hard as we had never used it before. 
Jake was a very helpful classmate who helped people who needed it. 
We will all be experts soon if we help each other.

Lily's Animals

This is me and my animals. This is me and my favourite animal.  It is a kitten. They are old fashioned things and my granny gave them to me. by Lily.

Year 2, Room 2, are Awesome Too!

Today was our first day back to school. We started with summer story sharing and then we went for a walk in the forest and took some photos.

We talked a lot about rules and how to keep safe and happy at school. We did buddy talking about what rules we should have in our class and then we did a class brainstorm. 

We picked the best ones and combined ones that were similar. 

Andrea wrote it up on a big piece of paper and we all signed it. 

Then we finished the day doing self portraits. We all worked very hard for our first day back.
