Week 8 GLS Live News reflection.

• Some of our stories need to make more sense.
• Talk a bit louder when recording so we can be heard.
• Try and work faster so we can have more time to edit the writing better.
• Good how we had jobs so we knew what to do. Now we work together.
• Some groups ended up doing the same story.
• Put our birds even further away so they don't chirp through our newscast.

My New Budgie

On the weekend I got a budgie named Sparkles. He is only a baby so I think he is zero. He is a bit chatty and one time he made a lot of ringing noises and it was are sleepy time so I tried to get some rest. He realised that it was night time. He was chirping so loud you could here it to the other end of the house to the other end. I love Sparkles.

We have created a Room 13 news programme called GLS LIVE, where we listen to a podcast from the BBC on Mondays and we choose stories we like and re-tell them using our own words.

The weetbix Tryathlon

On Sunday it was the weetbix tryathlon .I had to get up at 6.00 in the morning and get ready for it. Zara

Going for Gold

Yesterday I went to a fishing contest . There was a tank full of fish . The referee said ''go''  and all the kids put their fishing rods in the water . I got the most fish and I got a Gold fishing medal .  By Shae

Aloha Night

On Friday it is going to be aloha night. I am really happy because aloha is fun we are so happy. I love aloha and there are so things we can buy too. I am going to be at aloha. Aloha is a fun thing to do we are happy aloha  is on.

My birthday on Sunday.

On Sunday the 13th of  March  it  was my birthday .I  only  got  2 presents  and  the    first   one  was  from  my dad  and the 2nd one was from  Monty the monkey and the present was  pick up  sticks. I  like my pick up sticks. I always play with it everyday after school  . First  thing  in  the  morning we  had to do this dance  at  church and then they sang happy  birthday to me. I was very shy when my church sang happy birthday to me. After that we went to my cousin house and they said happy birthday to me. Then we went home. I had fun!    By Oceania

    

Camping

On the weekend I went camping with my dad and my brother.  I had to wait for my brother to come home from school then we went to camping on the car.  It took a long time to get there. We went over the Harbour Bridge and onto the motorway and then we got there.
After that we put up the tent. Soon after we ate dinner. We had fun!

New Zealand Children's Book Awards

We read two new library books last week during library time. They are both finalists in the New Zealand Children's Book Awards 2011.

The first book we really like is, "Baa, Baa Smart Sheep, by Marc Sommerset. When Andrea read this book we laughed out loud at all the funny bits - especially Turkey Lurkey and the fact that he was gullable.

You should pop into the library and have a read and see if you would ever eat smarty beans !

The second book is about a duck and marmalade jam. Sounds like a weird mix but it makes for a very funny book. Room 13 kids really liked the rhyming words and the way the words flowed into one another.

Going to gym

On  Tuesday  I  went  to  gym.  It  was  a  fun  day.  You   could   take   anyone  to  gym   but   everyone  was   doing  their own   thing   so  I   just  went    with   Scarlett  and  Milla   and  Lucy  and   my  mum.  I got  to   jump    into   the  pit  and  jump   onto   the  long   tramp   and   the   wide   tramp.   I   got   to   play   with    ribbons   and   then   I  went   home   and   had  dinner  and   went   to   bed.  Good   night.   by  Nina
      

Going to Parakai

On Saturday me and my  cousin and my mum and dad went to Parakai for my cousin's birthday. We played on the water slide where there's water inside then you go in and slide down.  Next it was time to eat. We ate mashed potato and steak. Then after that we went into the pool we played stuck in the mud. We went out and dried ourselves and had a rest. Then it was time to go home and when we got home we watched TV and then it was time to sleep.

Aloha Night

Next week Friday after school we all go home  and get dressed  into our dress clothes and come back to school for aloha night. I am really excited about aloha. It is going to be so fun. I can't wait for aloha. My mum and my brother and baby sister are going to come so I am excited. By Kayleen

Going fishing

On Sunday  I went fishing with my dad. We went to a wharf that my dad and me found  2 years ago by accident because my dad got lost. and its called pt cheve wharf we caught 24 sprats 1 snapper  1blue cod and 1 flounder then we went home fed some of the fish to the cats and put the others in the fridge. Then we had pizza for a job well done!

Going to England

In  July I'm  going  to  England  for  a  holiday  and  we  are  also going  to  Paris  for  4  days.  I  can't  wait  till  I  go. My  grandma  and  grandpa  live  in  a  4  storey  house  and on  the  first floor  there's  a  kitchen  and a bathroom. On  the  next  floor  there's  a  living  room and on  the  next  flor  there's  a  spare  room  and  my  grandma and  grandpa's room.  On  the  last  floor  there's  2  spare rooms  and  a  bathroom. I've  been  to  england  2  times  and cannot wait to go again.

Samoa Trip

On the 22th of February it was my mums birthday. So me my mum my brother and my dad went to Samoa.When we got there it was blazing hot but then it felt colder when we went inside the airport .When we finished showing them our passports we had to go get our bags and wait for our shuttle bus. He took us to our hotel it was called Insel hotel.The first thing we did when we got to our room was we went to have a  swim in the pool.And also played tennis after that we went up to the restaurant for dinner then we went to our room and went to sleep.

Footsil o

On  Friday  I  went to do footsil. It  was my first time  doing  it. I was going to do it with  Lucy, Nina,   Josie and my brother. When  we got  there  we walked  in  the  door  my  mum talked to the lady at the counter then we walked down the stairs. Our  teacher was very nice. First we just practiced  but  soon  we  played a real  game. I  love doing  footsil.

My Bike Ride

On Sunday my friends and me went of a bike ride with my dad we went to Te Atatu and had at Wendy's. I had chicken nuggets . My mum came to pick me up because I didn't feel well, but when the others  came back I felt better.  One of my friends came and played with me. We played with my student border. We played soccer . Me and my friend Sophie scored a goal. First she scored then I  did . After that we had an ice block and went to my friend's house for dinner. We played  Slovenians . I felt great because I had fun.

Remembering Christchurch

Yesterday the whole of Grey Lynn School stopped at 12:51 to remember those who have died as a result of the earthquake in Christchurch.  Our teacher made a video to show the school why we stop and are silent and Che Fu let us use one of his songs as the lyrics are very touching.
One of our students' nanny came in to be with him during the 2 minutes. We all felt sad for Christchurch and after the 2 minutes we watched a slideshow on the news and then we hugged each other. Andrea said we are lucky to be able to hug the people we love as some people can't now.

Nana Jane's birthday Party

On Sunday I went to my Nana's birthday party and all my family was there. At the start we meet my
Aunty's model friend Kent. then we started to chat and eat nibbles. Then the whole smith family was
rushing threw the door thinking they were late. And after that everyone was there except for my Nana.

She came in the door walked up the stairs into the lounge and then 'SURPRISE' we jumped up and
popped the party poppers right in her face.Then she said 'I almost dropped the cake.' and then we had
some cake. Soon me and my sister took photos of everyone and everything at the party. We opened
presents after that. We got her a paper weight and an Australian pearl bracelet with an Eiffel tower on it.
Then everybody started to leave so we did that to.When we got home we went straight to bed.

My trip to canada

One day I went to Canada to my cousin' sister and my little cousin when it was 2009.We had fun being together but then things got to be bad. My little cousin's brother pulled my hair. It was very hard and it hurt. Then my cousin sister made me scared because of Canada has more bad guys and once I just went by my self around and I thought it is bad at Canada.We went to 2 trips at African Lion Safari. We went in their car and went around and see the animals.The monkeys just got on our cars and it was funny.The fun part was that I swam in the Safari Park and the bad part was some boys laughed at me. My second trip was at Niagara falls.The best part is that there was a boat there and I saw men were in there. Once I saw in a photo that my uncle was in that boat when I was little toddler or a baby. After that I went to London England and saw Big Ben and also went to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower.

Rainbows End

On Sunday it was Ben's party. He was going to Rainbows End with Josh, James, Harvey, Sam, Luca and me. First we played at Ben's house and had some yummy fizzy drinks. Then we went in the car because it was time to go to rainbows end. 25 minutes later we were at Rainbows End. The first thing we went on was a ride called the Fearfall. 3 hours later Ben's dad dropped us home.by Flynn

My trip to Niue

In the holiday me and my church went to Niue. First we had to pack our stuff but my mum packed  our stuff. Next early in the morning we all had to get up and drive  to the airport. When we got there we had to wait in line but it did not take long. When the line was nearly finished my mum gave me a camera with a pink case and I gave my mum a really big hug too. When it was our turn my mum had to give our passports to the lady. All of us had to scan our bags. When we got on the plane it took 3 and a half hours then we got to Niue. We all unpacked then it was late and we all went to sleep. We had lots of fun on our holiday.  By Ulysses
