Mr Stranded

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be stranded?  Well this story I'm about to tell you will prove how bad being  stranded really is.

"Ben, why do we always have to go to the most dangerous beach in California?"asked a little girl called Lily "Stop being a baby, Lily. This is not even a tiny bit dangerous," teased Ben[Lily's brother] "BEN!" screamed Lily. "Run!"screamed Lily even louder. "Why Lily? Is a big wave going to take me out to sea?" Lily nodded fast and then she ran.

Lily survived but Ben was taken out to sea. He fell asleep and woke up on a strange island and beside him was a baby elephant and a baby peacock...TBC

Climbing High

On Saturday I had a climbing competition and I came 1st which means I am the best primary school climber in Auckland.The rules are that there's 15 climbs and each climb has a certain amount of points. The hardest climbs have more points than the easier climbs. I got 57 points. In the finals we did a grade 21 and it was quite hard. Next year I'm going to try get into nationals.

Asthma

Asthma is very dangerous and it can kill you by blocking up your throat so you can't breath. I have asthma and I am lucky that live near the hospital. I have now been in an ambulance 8 times now.

Chapter 2 RUN AWAY

Lucy walks up to the door and slowly opens it. "HURRY UP," yelled the evil lady. Lucy quickly opens the door. On the other side is 3 girls and 1 boy. "Hello, I'm Zoe" said 1 of the girls in a posh voice and threw her bags on Lucy. "I'm so sorry about her, here,I'm Lola " and she helped her up. Lucy takes them to their rooms. "We have to sleep in this? " Zoe says in a disgusted voice, pointing to the dirty bed. Lucy runs back down stairs and says, "Hello my name is Lucy, welcome." "Hi, I am Monique and this is my older brother Enzo." Monique says excitedly . The evil lady slams the door... TBC...

Our Lego House

Two and a half weeks ago we, Reuben and Jed made a house out of Lego. The Lego house has windows that can open and a telescope and a door also a garden. It's built as a rainbow house and a chimney that is electric and you only need to tap a button, security cameras and when it sees robbers, it will shoot. By Reuben and Jed.

    COLA CHOCOLATE POPCORN BALLS



INGREDIENTS

.  1 1/3 Servings Poped Popcorn

.  120 g [ 4 oz ] butter ,plus extra for forming balls

.  85 g [ 3 oz ] bron sugar

.  120 ml [ 4 fl oz ] cola, left to stand until flat

.  1 teaspoon salt

.  About 50 g [1 3/4 oz ] plain chocolate, melted

       
Method

Line 2 large baking trays with nonstick baking paper
Place the popcorn a large bowl.

In a medium pan, over a gentle heat, melt the 120 g [4 oz ] butter. Add the brown sugar, flat cola and salt, stirring frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Turn the heat up to medium to high and bring it to a boil. Do this for 2 minutes. Pour the mixture over the top and toss gently until all the popcorn is coated. Wait for it to cool and then butter your hands and form into 10 balls. Put on the baking trays and when it is completely cooled, drizzle it with melted chocolate. Wait for it to cool before eating.
Serve immediately.

Pokemon Go is a great game but it is also very dangerous because some people can walk on the road and get hit by a car. Other people can walk off cliffs. Some people have already died because of Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go is very addictive because people are on the hunt for rare Pokemon, even I play Pokemon Go sometimes. Did you know Pokemon stands for pocket monster? 
I wouldn't play Pokemon Go near a busy road. but if you want good Pokemon you should go to mission bay?
Pokemon Go has eggs that you can hatch Pokemon from. The eggs are 2.km eggs, 5.km eggs and 10.km. You can get Pikachu, Squrtle, Charmander and more from the 2.km eggs. I think you can get Syther, Electabuzz and more from the 2.km eggs. And finally The 10.km eggs you can get Lapras Snorlax and more. So now you know all about Pokemon Go. By Torin

Spring Lambs

On Sunday me, mum and dad went to Cornwall Park and I rode my scooter. There were lots of lambs and they were so cute.There were also a couple of cows but not many calves. I got so close to one of the lambs and I was just about to touch one but then I realised that on a sign it said, DON'T TOUCH THE ANIMALS! I really wanted to touch the lamb but I didn't want to break the rules either. When we were going back to the car we saw an adorable puppy. My mum took me to see the puppy.It was a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The dog licked my face. It was hilarious! After that we went to lunch at Ugly Bagel with my cousins. The food was delicious. We also got macaroons and they were delicious. I got one that looked like a hamburger. We saw Eric Murray from the Olymics. I was going to get a picture but we had to go home. It was an awesome day! My American Trip

A few Fridays ago I went to the airport to go to America and I loved the first day because I stayed with my mum's friend in Los Angeles for about three days.Then we went to go to a pool for swimming. It was just like every other pool or spa or sea. That was all on Saturday. The next day me and my mummy went to the park and ate my homework... just a joke, but we actually did go to the park and got lost. On Sunday we went for a walk so my mum could get more steps up on my mummy's mum because they were having a competition for steps. And more importantly I wanted an interview with an ice -cream. It was an cookies and cream ice cream. I got sugar rushing in my head. My mum woke me up at seven o'clock to get on the next plan to Las Vegas or we would miss the plane. My brother was moaning and groaning at that point of time in the morning. I was just tired from not sleeping. There is much more to tell you. Stay tuned for part two! By Ruby

Emily's Dream Classroom

I wish that my dream classroom was true. It would be so cool. It is full of nature like trees, pencils shaped like bananas and lots, lots more. Sometimes animals could come and go and they stoop on the desks. At lunch you could go to a butterfly room where you could see real butterflies fly around and land on you. The Tree Scarf

When we move to our new classrooms, I hope we can take our plants with us and when we do move I hope the plants will be safe. 
 When I go to school everyday I see the tree with no leaves and one day, I went to school and I saw a magnificent tree with different colourful ribbons on it! Now the tree isn't naked. It has a warm scarf wrapped on it! Reuben

A long Holiday

Two days ago it was the holidays this is what I did: First we went up to our grandparents house we stayed there for one night and then took a ferry to Auckland and then drove a motor home all the way to Waitomo. The next day we waited around until it was time for our glow worm and Rurikuri cave tours. The next day we went all the way to Matamata we stayed the night and then went to Hobbiton movie set and had a long tour. Then we went back into the motorhome and drove home.

SPCA cupcake day

On Monday Room Ten are going to sell cupcakes to save animals that haven't been treated well. SPCA have been finding untreated animals that are sick cold and not very good shelter and lost which is very sad. We are doing a cake shop and it is just outside of room ten on the deck under the shelter. The SPCA is made to help save animals. Also room 10 are making footsteps to our  cake shop. It's like a dog is sniffing the cupcakes.The prices are 50  cents  to 3 dollars  .And we are making posters make others come to our cake shop.By Ben.

Me and my brother made a movie called School Rules. We made the movie on imovie. We made the movie because we wanted to make it so people would follow the rules. We put the three R's in the movie the three R's are respect, responsibility and resilience. By Torin.

SPCA Cupcake Critters Rule

Room 10 had a problem. They had a problem with people being cruel to animals. Room 10 is a class full of animal lovers.

We know we cannot solve all the world's problems, yet, but our goal is to make them better than before.

Olive found a newspaper article about hosting a cupcake day to help fight animal cruelty. It's called, SPCA Cupcake Day!

We talked about it as a class and we had 100% buy in! Our cupcake mission was on! We asked that each of us commit to baking at least 6 cupcakes, slices or fruit kebabs. And we did. We did a lot more than that! 
We advertised and made posters. Our parents all helped us. It was a team effort. Andrea also baked a lot of mini cupcakes! 

Our day was a success. The students of Grey Lynn school all remembered their gold coins and some even gave us extra donations. 

We were able to raise $460.00 to help fight animal cruelty. We know there will be a lot of happier and more loved animals now that they have our money too. 

This shows us that we can make a difference. Every little action helps. Every voice needs to be heard. Today, we spoke for the animals.

Evil Squirrel Chapter 2

It was eight o'clock in the morning on Rubbish Bin RD and Norbert was in his Rubbish Bin finding rotten tomatoes to throw at Evil squirrel and his "Squirrel squad." Evil squirrel was sitting in his squirrel hole thinking of a plan of action! First they would find rocks and pebbles to block up the entrance to the hole. Then he would order his best archers to take up positions on and inside of the tree branches and wait for the signal that he would give! Room 10 Cupcake Day

On Monday the 15th of August, room 10 are doing a cupcake day. Do you want to know why? Well, it all started when we brainstormed problems in the world and one of them was animal cruelty. Then one day Olive bought in a newspaper about a cupcake day for raising money for the spca. We are raising money to save animals lives. Room 10 have started making posters to advertise it so that people will know to bring money on Monday and know where it is when it is and what it is. I think it's a very good idea to do a cupcake day and I am also really excited about cupcake day too!By Lola

Learning Basketball.

Basketball

Today room 10 went to room 15 and we did basketball.We learnt how to dribble(bounce the ball).We also learnt how to do a crossover which is bouncing the ball from your right hand to your left hand. I found it quite hard when we had to do the crossover without looking at the ball.The coach who was teaching us was a man called Malek. He is a really good coach.

If we are doing things well we get points and after we have finished doing the practices we add up all our points and who ever has the most gets a prize. It's a surprise though.

The Evil Squirrel!! Chapter One

Once there was a squirrel and this particular squirrel had a squirrel army! And he was out of nuts and he wanted revenge on the human who was so mean to him! First he ordered his "squirrel squad" to get more nuts. Then he sat in his squirrel hole and began plotting and planning against the human race! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha! On the 12 of August I'm going on a big trip to America.Some of the places I'm going are LA, Las Vegas, New York and Florida. It's going to be so much fun!

MINECRAFT WAR

In Minecraft me and my step brother Kyle are building a base/castle.Kyle and I have got war horses that we use in battle.We found a village on the world not long ago so we made a big pathway to the village.The base/castle in enormous. Tonight when we get home we will build a shelter. We have started the shelter but we have only done the barrier so we have some cover. We have knight armour and I dyed it the colour of knight armour. We only have iron swords but we do have bow and arrows. 

I can tell you how to dye armour but it only works with leather armour so:  get a cauldron, some leather armour, any coloured dye and some water. Now lets get started. Put the water in the cauldron and then put the dye in the cauldron with the water. Then get your leather armour and then dab it in the dye and water then do it with the rest of your armour. Once upon a time there was a planet named Earth, and was going to be turned into nothing but an ice planet because the sun was going to die. The sun will turn into a white dwarf and earth will get hotter and hotter because it is orbiting a very hot star. After 4 billion years in the future the white dwarf will cool down and will get colder and colder and then earth will be habitable for four to six thousand years, then it will freeze because the sun would be cold and then the same would happen to Mercury too. An oxygen tank because if I didn't have a oxygen tank I would die.

Star Wars is about fighting Darth Maul's team... even him. When Darth Vader gets out his lightsaber he was fighting Darth Maul and Darth Maul was fighting Darth Vader. The character's are called R2D2 and Chewbacca. When Chewbacca talks, he sounds like this, "waaaahhh." R2D2 is a blue, silver and white robot. Darth Vader's friends are the Stormtroopers.

Learning Te Reo

In Term two, the whole school sang Maori songs and we got video'd and put on TV. It was on channel one but also on TVNZ on demand. When we got home we didn't  get on time so we probably have to watch it on TVNZ on demand. So we did but when we just turned on the TV, it was dinner time. After dinner we watched it.The one song that we just finished but it got it stuck in my head...even right now. Ani showed us the song that we are going to do next term all the kids in the Kauri team thought it sounded hard to sing, but I think that we are going to get on well. Ani is a good Maori teacher so we could  sing it really good. Ani must of had a really good Maori teacher when she was in school .By Ben.

The great war!

Once there was a great war! Two Kingdoms were fighting over the great sword. The Great Sword is the most powerful relic in the Multiverse! Anyway, back to the story. The first Kingdom's name was Avantia, the second's name was Gorgoria. The battle went on for years and years. Gorgoria's Boss's name was Horon, and Avantia's was Shan.  Horon's army was winning but Shan had a secret weapon! When the time was right he used the belt of Avantia to vanquish Horon's Shadow army and won!!!!!!

Riding Lessons

Best Class Ever Yay!

This is my favourite place because it has all the work books and the daily five activities. We also go there to read our library books . On our way to school we can always pick up some nature to put on to our nature table. I'm so sad that the building is going to be knocked down! But I will always remember this part of the school! The Big Catch

The sea was glistening as the boat sped across the water to find the perfect fishing spot. Maybe I would get a big catch today, Max dreamed. Max imagined the fish was a big Grandpa   Snapper. ''Wake up sleepy head, we're here." Max jumped with a start. ''Ok, ok. I'm ready Emma''. Max let down his line he waited and waited and waited. After an hour the fish started nibbling like mad and then Max's dad's rod started to bend. Paul, Max's dad, whined his rod up slowly. It was a middle size snapper and it flipped around the boat madly. Emma screamed and Max just laughed and helped his mum and dad put the fish in the chilly bin. Emma came out of her hiding spot. As soon as Max put his line down his rod started bending. ''Help dad, help! I can't pull my line up!" Paul helped pull the line up and when the line was up the fish flipped around and guess what... it was... it was a grandpa snapper and Max's dream had come true. By Charlie

Skiing

In the holidays we went to Wanaka.  We also went in an Air New Zealand plane and it was a very big one.  It could fit lots of people in it.  My dad said that after we have taken of I can play on his ipad. I played angry birds for nearly the whole ride. When I looked back at my dad, he was playing angry birds too which I haven't seen him do it before, but he was playing on his phone.   The angry birds were different levels. The ipad's one was seasons and dad's phone was normal levels, a very easy one.  When we landed in Queenstown, we drove to Wanaka and I was excited to ski.

Tuesday 26th of July was the day I got my special otter necklace. My necklace came all the way from Canada.My necklace was given to me by my BFF (best friends forever)Sienna McMillan.

My necklace's colour is silver with a little bit of black.The otter reminds me of the Australian zoo where I saw an adorable otter named Lucy.

Skiing In The Holidays

On the 2nd week of the school holidays I did a skiing holiday programme so know when I go from the top I can go on the jump. I was in the dark blue team but it was to easy for me. On the last day we got chips and pizza for lunch. I told my dad I didn't get much even, though I did get a lot so after we got McDonald's. I had a amazing time so I hope we could do it again. By Gus

I hide there if I'm playing hide and go seek.The thing I like about it is that nobody even looks there. Luna's holiday at my house.

On Monday last week me my mum and my brother dog sat a dog called Luna. Here are a words I thought about Luna: sweet and playful. Luna is very playful because she likes to play fetch and go for walks up the mountain and to the park. Luna is a sweet dog because she doesn't bark at you unless she is hungry. Luna is about three years old. Luna was a bit sad the first time her mum left. Samara [my mum] and George [my brother] and me Ruby we all took luna up the mountain for the first time she was like, OH MY GOSH! I don't want to leave this place but when she pooped we left on the way back up we found some poke stops from the game pokemon go.      By Ruby

Maori language week

This week it is Maori language week. Yesterday the whole school sang and got put on tv.We got put on Maori television. If you missed it and want to watch it it will be on tvnz ondemand.The name of the tv show is Te Karere.We sang a song called Tarakihi.We are learning to speak Maori. Ani is teaching us Maori so now I can speak Maori. I can do my mihi now. 
He tauira ahau ki te kura o Grey lynn means I am a student of Grey Lynn School. Kura means school, tauira means student and ahau means any of these sayings me myself and I.By Torin.









































                                             

Plants

All of the plants around the Kauri block are going to be moved and some may be destroyed if they are in the way. I love plants because they will grow strong and tall and provide shelter also if your lost in the Amazon you can hide under a tree. Everybody nows that we breathe out carbon dioxide and trees breathe in that and they breathe out oxygen. Trees also can can be for a treehouse.You can make swings on trees. I hope we bring these plants with us to our new building. By Kiedis

Lola's Favourite Place

My favourite place that is going to be knocked down is the target wall because my friends and I sometimes play there at morning tea. I am going to miss the target wall when it gets knocked down. I also sometimes bounce balls at it when I am at SKIDS. I am going to miss being able to do that at SKIDS,because it was really fun. Oh, and I used to sit there when I was eating my morning tea and lunch. When I bounced balls off it, it helped me pass better and catch as well.The target wall is one of my favourite places in the whole school.I will definitely remember the target wall and miss it as well. I want to remember the library!

This is the library it's going to get demolished next year when our school starts the new building.  I want it to be remembered because it is fun and it has lots of cool books and I enjoy the Lego. Everyone has fun there. I hope the new library has space where you can be creative and a Lego Club! by Ben

Our School Trip

Last week room 11 and room 10 went to the

Corban art centre. We made our family in a jar.

First we drew our family and then we got a clear 

piece  of paper and then we got some tape and 

then put them together.

After we did dots on the clear piece of paper.

Then we got a silver peace of paper and went over

the dots again.

Finally we put the silver piece of paper and put it 

in a jar and put a light in. It was awesome!!!
